If your dad is having a hissy about a hot rock I have one compromise idea that I saw on another board years ago. Go ahead and put the rock in there, BUT: take a metal cakepan that is a bit larger than the rock and flip it upside down over the hot rock, then fasten it down however you have to, even and up to using duck tape. The metal pan disseminates enough heat to avoid the burns and scars and as long as it is fastened down the iguana can't flip the pan back upright and get to the rock itself. But enough heat gets through the pan to help keep the enclosure warmer - and the rocks DO last longer than bulbs, no doubt about that. And in the meantime, get her to the vet to have her checked for respiratory problems.
