Thanks again lol. I love my igs to death and I probably will pick up a couple of extra bulbs to have on hand. And you wont have to sell me on herpsupplies.com. I actually went to his house before he moved out of Mason to pick up an order of supplies from him. I was amazed at the volume of reptile "stuff" he had. His back yard was covered in used aquariums. It was quite comical. Oh by the way I am in North Central Mass approx 1 hour from Manchester NH Have a great day!!!Lyn Do you ever work the shows anymore?
:Well... To be fair, as I said, I haven't had the chance to test one of the bulbs myself. Who knows, they may actually be a viable option. The only way to find out is to actually put a meter under one and see how it performs. Just because a store may not perform to expectations doesn't necessarily mean that a product is bad. Heck, I've been toying with the idea of going back to the "old" long neck MV bulbs that were sold as "Active" bulbs before T-Rex took over. I had my last one of those give up the ghost after nearly two years of service and a month before it died it was still kicking out 16 uW/cm2 @ 12".
:To be fair to T-Rex, I have not gotten in any Active bulbs within the last 6 months so I don't know how their performance has been as of late. I did get 10 new PowerSun 160's about 2 months ago and have not had problem one with any of them. Steady lighting, no flickering, good output... In my opinion, about the only way to besure about things is to have a meter at your disposal unfortunately because if you rely strictly on advertising in this hobby... Example - "full spectrum lighting".... ;) Where in New England are you?
