Whether you keep the Iguana in a room and let it free roam, or in a BIG cage, it's up to you. Some people have cages and let them free roam during the day.
As for cage size as a small iguana, i used the next to biggest one of the reptariams, however, they are hard to keep humid and i would recoomend perhaps building a cage or using a really big aquarium for a hatchling. (remember, hatchlings pretty much triple in size their first year!) However, if you get an adult Iguana, i would recommend goign to greenigsociety.org and adopting one, or find one around your area that is up for adoption. The cage you would need for an adult iguana would be huge (almost the size of a full size room) so it's almost better just to set the iguana up as a free roamer.
As for lighting, i would recommend the Powersun UV lights, they are awesome and are way better then the florescent/heat light set up. they cost a pretty penny but hey...iguana's cost. =) You can buy one at herpsupplies.com.
Remember: Male iguanas tend to be a little bit more agressive then females, however, just as much love and tameing will prove good =)
Try to get the place set up before you bring an iguana home, i wish i would've had everything before i brought mine home. =)
And remember, they grow up to 7 feet long and live approx 20 years..so if you dont' think you can keep one for that long, you might want to check into another reptile.
Hope this helps (and someone, please correct me if i'm wrong ;x)!
