:i love iguanas. my 2 year old male sits in a fake tree the whole day behind the living room couch and suns. they are kinda cool looking on the golf courses. if you think you have a big captive iguana you should see the ones in the "wild" out here.they are dinosaurs. i love when they use the term "wild", a bunch of rich old peoples houses built around a beatiful golf course if you consider that wild. they get huge. fat little buggers just mosey around all day. they are not scared of humans either. i have walked right up to them. its actually kinda interesting. it isnt as bad as the article makes it out to be. there will be no way to get rid of them and the winters dont kill them all so it will be interesting to see how darwins theory develops down here.

Yes, it will be interesting to see how the evolutionary theory pans out, but they can be a nuisance to farmers, especially the orange and grapefruit growers because they can damage fruit with their climbing and incessant nibbling. My own has decided that it's open season on ALL my houseplants, so I can't let him roam like I used to. He's just pasted the two-foot mark and is becoming an eating machine.
Then again, you have a good point. Apart from people's gardens, I really can't think of much 'damage' they can actually do. To be honest, I'm surprised they hadn't already established a population eons ago, like in the Caribbean, Cuba, etc.
