Ok ok ok ok ok. I admit I got carried away with the viperids and arachnids. However, you gotta admit they aren't the cuddliest of the reptiles. And I can't believe a bug can be cuddly either.
So I apologize for pointing the finger at you venomous folks, but you cannot rule out that these DEADLY animals are too often easy to acquire... There are a lot of stupid people out there, who unlike you fellas, are not suited to keep these animals. Same goes for folks who keep monitors or iguanids or constrictors, or even crocodilians.
This is also why the whole issue is more complicated than a Copperfield's illusion.
