Sorry for the long post.
You won't find much about Helmeted Iguanas on the net. They are all WC because they have not been succesfully breed in captivity and this makes them harder to acclimate. I have had my female for 5 years and I had some pretty close calls with her, partly in fact because she was my first lizard and when I got her they called her a Forest Chameleon. This is another name for them but they are in no way a chameleon. I recently got a male and he died of a prolapse a few weeks ago.
Anyway some general care tips for you that work for me. Mine eats crickets and mealworms with superworms as a treat once a week. I keep her temps in the 85 degrees range during the day and 70-75 at night. She drinks from a bowl that catches a drip, this isn't necessary but she seems to like the water movement. Her cage consists of a sandblasted grapevine, reptile bark in the bottom, an umbrella plant and artificial vine. I also mist her several times a day.
If you have anymore questions email me ewilson@1st.net. Try searching for forest chameleon on the net and you might have some luck and I think that Melissa Kaplan has a care sheet for them.
