She had laid eggs twice before but last year was very difficult for her and she was at vet for 7 days during this period. This year again she could not lay and her vet had told me if this was to happen then Lizzy would need to be spayed.
Her eating did stop, due to all the eggs which is normal. After the spay she was at vet for only one day and night. I had her restricted for a couple more days when she came home and really no movement or food intake. Lizzy was on antibiotics which I gave her once daily and it was liquid, much easier.
After about a week her food intake started to pick up again, very little at first though. Now it has been four weeks, she was seen by vet after 21 days which was March 6th. Lizzy had not healed enough for any removal of stitches so they are all still in.
Now she is eating like a fiend, will even throw her bowl around in the am wanting me to feed her in a hurry. She stomps on her shelf and really lets me know it's time to eat, lol.
Gained much strength back over the past month as well. Her next visit is on April 6th and hopefully stitches removed if she has healed. No more meds now and no restrictions.
She was given pain meds while at the vet after surgery as well.
I was a complete basket case, Lizzy is my first and only reptile and I had no idea how this spay would turn out. Was very surprised though as nothing like I thought even though I done all the reading I could find on the subject.
So my prayers are with your baby girl and I hope she does as well as my girl Lizzy has.
