::Hello!

::I dont normally post here, since i do not have an iguana but i read the posts all the time=) Anyhow, I was watching a tv show on i think it was PBS and it was all about reptiles. Now, for the most part it was a pretty interesting, informative show...except when they talked about this one guy.

::His name was like, Henry "LizardLover" (he actually changed his name to that.), and this guy lives in a house full of lizards- he had a ton of iguanas, skinks, and water dragons that pretty much just freeroamed his house. In the kitchen, on counters and everything. None had cages, they all just freeroamed his house.
::I know that its ok to let your igs freeroam the house and stuff, but to me, this guys house seemed a bit much, and a little unsanitary when it comes to the whole salmonella thing. i mean, there were lizards everywhere. isnt that risking a lot when it comes to health?

::Anyhow, the program went on to show this guy picking up each and every one of his lizards and kissing them, every one. Isnt that behavior discouraged? Youre not supposed to kiss your lizards! I know there is a risk of getting sick. Its just not something you want to be teaching people that you can do, correct?

::Then they show this guy walking down the street with one of his biggest iguanas. Fine, i thought. no big deal. but then he goes to an outdoor restaraunt, where people are eating pizza, and let people pet his ig. he even let kids pet it while eating a pizza. Am i just being ignorant or is this not the kind of thing you want to be doing?? i mean, its fine to let people pet iguanas, i think thats great and helps people get over the fear...but while they are eating food you need to pick up with your hands to eat? and especially kids?

::Now heres the part that REALLY got to me. The LizardLover guy goes and buys himself a slice of pizza...and guess what he does? He lets his iguana take a big ol' bite of it, greasy cheese and toppings and all......again, am i being ignorant or is this really what you dont want to do??

::sorry, this program just really irked me with this guy and the stuff he did. he basically did everything i was taught NOT to do with pet lizards (i have a bearded dragon and three leopard geckos). You dont kiss them, you dont touch them without washing your hands before eating something (especially dont touch them WHILE you are eatingsomething), you dont let em run around your kitchen, and you dont feed them things like pizza....its the same thing as that moron a while back who supposedly fed his iguana mcdonalds...you just shouldnt do it.
::I hope i'mnot being totally ignorant with this, but anyone else have any opinions on this? I dont wanna start any flame wars or anything, but i just want to see if im the only one who thinks this guy is nutty.

::Melissa
