It's not like I love the idea of discarding the eggs, but in the wild other animals would feed on eggs so they are not going to waste. I would shy away from breeding unless I was able to do this....not like I would advocate hatching them and then feeding iglets to another animal or anything....although there are people doing this with baby bearded dragons and anoles all the time. (that's kind of sick in my opinion but I suppose it's nature too). If those people in your town really want iguanas, they could look online for a rescue that ships animals. To me they don't seem very motivated if they haven't found one on their own...and not being motivated means that owning one isn't that important to them....and that doesn't make a very good iguana owner in my opinion.
