I share the concerns that have already been voiced. But what I haven't heard anyone say yet is that at least HERE is someone who will be offering CAPTIVE BRED iguanas. Isn't that part of what we all want? A _small_ captive bred stock of iguanas for those who truly want them?
To the iguana breeders: Before I found my iguana, Bud, I too went to the ASPCA and local SPCA's looking for iguanas. Like you, I found none. This is because these facilities realize their inability to help iguanas, and pass them on to places like MARS. Once I found the MARS site, and this site, and saw the adoptions available, I knew where all those iguanas went.
INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH: When I first found Bud, and wasn't sure whether I could keep him or not, NONE of these shelters or animal sanctuaries here in the Annapolis area could provide me with the number or name of an iguana or reptile rescue!! Really surprising.
