I am so sorry for your loss but unfortunately that is the way it goes sometimes. Iguanas are great at masking their illnesses. My Salvador was the same...he seemed fine and then one night he was acting a bit off, holding his head up high. I knew his behavior so well that I knew something was wrong. I researched it and knew it to be a respiratory infection. I couldn't get into the vet for about 36 hours and he died in my arms on the way. I took it very hard. Apparently all his organs were failing and he had a ton of problems (necropsy showed) but my only clue was he held his head up high and started getting rubbery saliva. It is just heartbreaking and I am so sorry for you! :(
