50% of the joy of having an iguana its due to their appearance! In my opinion they look gorgeous!!The others 50% is due to the fact that they can become very confident and they really really enjoy being rubbed!!Iguanas love to have body contact with us, thats amazing!

:--- a month or so of taming isn't much time considering that most Iguanas take about a year to tame down. If you stick with it for that long you could see some positive results.Just because you buy the right things for him, doesn't mean he's going to walk up to and start licking you. It's great that your getting all the proper requirements for him and even though it will make a significant difference in his quality of life, he doesn't understand that you are doing it, for him. With time he'll start to associate pleasant experiences with you and he will start to trust you.Remember, that he is a wild animal and sees you as a possible predator. I have dogs, snakes, cuban anoles and an Iguana and I can honestly say that none has fascinated me the way an Iguana does. Iguanas are great pets! They're just not for everyone. Don't expect anything in return and just take satisfaction in what you're doing for him and you'll be fine.......also try a little patience.

::I got this iguana from a friends kid who wasnt taking good care of it and could no longer handle the animal. I new it wouldnt be easy but i took it in anyway in hopes that i could better its living conditions and bond with the animal. Ive had it for about 1 month now and i am sick and tired of this damn animal! I feed it all the things it needs, keep his enclosure hot enough, and I spend money on it more than i do on myself! Ive bought Heat pads, Heat lamps, Ceramic lamps, Veggies, enclosure! I try to spend about 30min a day or so tamming this animal. It doesn't happen! he bites, scratches and whips! I dont see whats the joy in having an animal that requires so much yet gives so little. And as i read all these stories of IGS that reach breeding season and become even more violent I dont see why i should put up with its crap!!! I am going to try to find someone who will take him in, i honestly cannot deal with it! I have other pets that require lots of attention as well but theyre much more rewarding!!!
