:I also keep Cyclura Iguanas including 3 Rhinos. They are marvelous, fascinating animals. In my opinion, if you spend time with them and give them plenty of space, they calm down and tame better than Green Iguanas. As adults they are less flighty and more easy going...also seem more tolerant of changes and new things. They max out at about 4 feet but have very heavy bodies and limbs. They are long-lived....I've seen animals into their 30's and a couple even older. They do require a lot of space as they are terrestrial, rather than arboreal. An adult needs a very large enclosure...preferably room sized. Here's a photo of my youngest, a yearling from Bob Ehrig. She's growing like a weed and I think she's gonna be a big big girl. Visit www.Cyclura.com for lots of info and also check out the Cyclura forum right here on KS.

Hey Jiffypop,
Your right, the tegu form. Your pretty active there! Your Rhino is very prehistoric looking. Absolutely an amazing reptile. I keep going back to the St.Pierre site looking at the pic of the Rhino. Would you believe I'm 50 yrs. old and have just recently developed this fasination with reptiles. People must think I'm nuts. How do the Rhino's compare to the tegu as far as taming, care, etc.? I'm pretty sure I could come up with the room, but I'll have to check out the caresheets and of course do my homework. What would be the best age to purchase one of these fellows? Which make better pets, male/female? Is fall typically the time eggs hatch? Ok, I'll stop now. If you'd like to share some of your experiences with the noble creatures, please do. I always prefer the intimate information from people that actually have the animals. Take care and write me back. If you want just e-mail me, barker109@aol.com
Thanks,Karen
