I think the process of taming iguanas is difficult because when you think it he tame he will become wild again. But not as wild as he was before.I think we have to continue trying to tame our iguanas but at the same time we have to accept them the way they are.I think the next generation of captive born iguanas will be much more tame. They will not have to bear the same stress the iguanas we have now bore.I dont want to sound pessimist because ive 4 more or less tamed iguanas (i say more or less because although i can kiss, pet, handle, cut their nails and give them a bath without problems they still panic when i try to pick them up from their cages. The first 30 seconds is always difficult because they will resist being picked up. Some of them will even try to avoid my hands, others will freeze). But my 5th ig, Kenya, is a cat.Completely tamed.Wherever i put her she will stay. She never panics, never tries to escape, only lays down waiting for me to handle her.She LOOOOVES to be with me!!Oh yes, she is captive bred!

I have had this juvi. ig since christmas and just started handling him almost every day about a month ago. He has always been rel flighty but last week he seemed to be coming around. He would let me pick him up with little to no struggle and would even let me rub his neck while he was in his cage. This week however, he is back to his same old tricks! :( He freaks out when I reach to get him out and trys for a long period of time to get away. He is still eatting good however so I have continued to handle him even with the sudden change. Am I doing something wrong or is he responding normally????? I know some igs are more skiddish then others, but I haven't met one yet that calmed down and then went wild again. What are the chances of him never taming complete???? I have long for a sweet docile ig for so long. Can someone please help me?? Thanks very much!!!!!!
: Michelle
