the trick is keeping your iguana healthy & happy per the last message. iguanas take a lot of work, time, money & attention...all worth it ten-fold.
as the iguana gets older their colour isn't as bright. males tend to be brighter & "showy-er" but you can't be sure of the sex until they are 18 mos old & have reached sexual maturity.
either sex, they are beautiful intelligent creatures. I may be biased, but my adopted adult male iguana is of the light green variety & is THE handsome iguana poster boy! when he gets natural sun (he's lucky to live in Florida) he really gets a pretty green. when he sheds, he looks like a leper!
:Hello everyone, I am new to this particular forum and also new to keeping iguanas. The thing is that I've seen many many iguanas, some of which I thought looked pretty good and healthy and they were. But the other day I saw the most beautiful green iguana. It was a bright bright green (green with some white, bot grey), the little frill on its throat was perfectly green and the tail was prefect. Its was ssooooo clean and perfect. What is the tip to keeping your iguana that clean and good looking? Its had no scars, tears or any type of discoloration. Thank you for any help!
