First of all, any type of medical practice be it human or animal carries a little thing called malparctice insurance. In the event the doctor makes a "mistake" or is accused of making a "mistake" or acting improperly, way before it ever got to court a lawyer would settle the case out of court knowing that the malpractice insurance would pay the plaintiff off.
Secondly, cases like this don't go thorugh the courts over night. That being the case and the "newly" found enticement of reporting this kind of thing to the public, especially where reptiles are concerend, there would have been a good deal of media coverage. Someone, be it an organization like PETA, a humane group or other animal welfare entity would have been following this case closely as a case like this, should it exist and have a positive outcome for the plaintiff in court, would be precident setting and open the door for all kinds of animal welfare cases to be filed.
Unless you can provide some real tangible proof, I for one don't believe your story at all.
