Since the beginning of times rept's have been viewed as cold blooded, soul-less beings.
Also, due to the lack of certain brain parts that differs them from mammals, and lack of showing lvoe and affection the way we and mammals do, lead to the popular belief that these animals are not smart and numb.
After all, a lot of people kept/keep snakes, and they are not exactly the smartest animals in the world IQ-wise.
It is only recently that reptile intelligence has been documented and observed buy hobbysits and researchers. Since we are a minority (thank God) it is understandable that the masses view these wonderful animals dumb as rock.
But think about it. It is better this way, o else we would have 10x the problem with too many herps on the market.
We, who appreciate and love these animals for what they are, and what they are capable of achieving in cpativity, must slowly and responsibly educate others, so that the hobby may suruvive and flourish for years to come.
Regards,
-IJ
