: because those stupid pet store ppl told me to feed them ONLY iceberg lettuce,....
from post http://forum.kingsnake.com/iguana/messages/62471.html

First he says the pet store told him to feed lettuce only then he says it was the vet (see post http://forum.kingsnake.com/iguana/messages/62512.html). So ....Right from the gate I am having a hard time putting a lot of stock in his story. ALSO -If he is only 14 then the vet would be dealing with his parents, not him as he is not a legal adult.

The bottom line is, some times the MOST HUMANE thing you can do for an animal is humanely end its suffering. I've seen igs suffering from malnutrition that can be saved and some that cannot. When you take malnutrition and add it to any other medical problem, like mites, now you have a whole new set of problems to deal with. Without any medical knowledge it's impossible to say whether or not the igs would have even survived the mite treatment.

I'm not going to defend any party to this story since we are only hearing one side. There are goods vets and bad, good pet stores and bad and people who know what they are doing with reptiles and people who do not.
