I myself have a psycho male ig named Xenos. He was wild when he was a baby and four years later he's just as bad. While he doesn't like to be handled, I've found that by maneuvering around him slowly, we can move hime short distances and pet him. When they get agitated they'll sometimes close their eyes, it's a defensive move where they kind of 'block out the chaos'. When he does this, we can pet him and pick him up slowly and hold him firmly. He loves to be misted and will close his eyes then as well. So we'll mist him sometimes to get his eyes closed.. It seem that if he can't see your hands coming at him, from whatever direction, he doesn't freak out when you pick him up. I would kind of talk to him softly, pet him for a couple minutes (with or without gloves if necessary to protect your hands), and then once he's used to you being there, gently pick him up. If he struggles a lot I wouldn't fight him. They stress easily and quickly. Also, i would switch up with how you go about getting him. Ours picked up right away that the orange gloves meant we were going to pick him up and he'd turn into a raging bull. The best advice I can give I guess is to be firm but gentle, persistant but not aggravating, and work slowly. Good luck!
:A while back I posted a message about taming my iguana. I feel kind of dumb askign the same question over again but oh well! I think that when i first started maybe i went about it the wrong way? i would reach into his enclosure(not from above) and no matter where he ran or how he whipped me, i still managed to get a hold of him. i would then try to hold him until he calmed down. This is basically what i understood to do due to advice from others. The only problem is he turns a real dark green color. I have read that this is a sign of extreme stress. Whenever I see him turn this color immediately i return him to his cage. am i doing more bad than good? he seems to be getting no more tame, and i seem to be getting no less aggrivated with the situation. everyone talks about how nice and calm their iguana is, so i know that many of you have had very successful taming experiences. if you could share them with me i would greatly appreciate it! i really want Guano and i to get along!
