I try not to pressure Monte to come out to me. There were times at the beginning where I just had to get him for a bath, but eventually he got used to me getting him at the same time everyday for a bath. That is the time I use to keep him out for awhile as he wants to get out of the bath. (Still not something he really likes a lot) so he is happy for me to pick him up out of the bath. That is when I walk around with him, and he loves this time, the only time he lets me hand feed him is when he is out of the cage. I also have basking spots set up for him.
Also, and some may not agree but at night he can sleep on my bed, he usually winds up under the covers at the foot of the bed. This, in my opinion is when an iguana is most vulnerable and Monte trusts me completely now at night. Last night for the first time he snuggled his head next to mine on my pillow for awhile before going under and to the bottom. I was very moved by that, even when I got two sneezes in my hair. LOL
In the morning, when he wakes up he comes out and I bring him to his cage for breakfast. I do keep a vaporizer on all night.
Warning: I believe it was the third night, he got up before me and decided to roam around, well, I was in a panick because he wasn't on the bed, I tore my house apart looking for him. It wasn't until I started tearing my bed down that he came out from where ever he was hiding and went by the heater. Now all doors are closed and the room is ig secure. When I say panick, I called friends over to help me tear apart my house. Which everyone gladly did LOL just to find the ig.
He has never done that since, maybe he got scared too, but now he just lays there till I get up.
:A while back I posted a message about taming my iguana. I feel kind of dumb askign the same question over again but oh well! I think that when i first started maybe i went about it the wrong way? i would reach into his enclosure(not from above) and no matter where he ran or how he whipped me, i still managed to get a hold of him. i would then try to hold him until he calmed down. This is basically what i understood to do due to advice from others. The only problem is he turns a real dark green color. I have read that this is a sign of extreme stress. Whenever I see him turn this color immediately i return him to his cage. am i doing more bad than good? he seems to be getting no more tame, and i seem to be getting no less aggrivated with the situation. everyone talks about how nice and calm their iguana is, so i know that many of you have had very successful taming experiences. if you could share them with me i would greatly appreciate it! i really want Guano and i to get along!
