That is true. I have found a few baby foods that seem to attract really bad off igs as well. They make a mango papaya kiwi babyfood that I have yet had anyone refuse.

BTW proper wording can be the BIG difference between an attack and a critique. I LOVE critiques! ;)

:Thanks for the additional info Cindy! Like I said in an earlier post, my initial impression was that it's the same red "glop" that PetCo currently uses to feed their igs and turtles. More than a year ago Mike and I were in PetCo and asked about the stuff. The employee brought out the tub and I remember seeing way more on the ingredients list than fruit and soy.

:I was trying not to be critical, given the sensitivity on the board lately, but I had to be honest and say that I would not feed it to my animals. IMHO There are better choices to feed an ig that seems to not be willing to take anything else. HOWEVER, I do know that if an ig is in a critical condition and refusing to eat, sometimes anything is better than nothing (well, as long as its food anyway I wouldn't suggest feeding pennies or marbles).

:I think it's very difficult sometimes when a rescue comes in that is in bad shape and refusing food. All you really want to do is make it better and are willing to try anything. The Sav from the big rescue last February was so sick and no matter what we fed he would either regurge or have the worst smelling diharria I've ever encounterd. But ... we kept on offering food, even the items (like mice) which were the grossest upon re-entry.

:Just a quick note for Croc ...There are lots of different, healthier things you can try. I have used a slurry of berries and veg made in the blender to entice an ig to eat. The other trick we use for dehydrated iguanas and we got this from David Krughoff, is to totally soak rep-cal pellets (the ones that look and smell like Fruity Pebbles)until they are mush. The igs seem to be attracked to the sweet smell and they get a ton of water in while eating it. Would I feed it every day? No but it is good in the situation I mentioned. I bet if you ask anyone who does rescue work on this board, they will have a few ideas too.
