This is from the Barletts' Terrarium book:

"...High elevation, live-bearing species...besides insects, emerald swifts will eat blossoms and some sweet fruits...will enjoy cooler daytime temperatures of 72 degrees to 80 degrees (22-27C) with a basking spot of 94F (34C)... Night time temps...60s (19-20.5)..."

The author makes a note that this specie seldom survives in captivity, and if one is to be kept, a VERY large enclosure is to be used.

These lizards are active, they are fast, need to run, and need a lot of space to do so. I know of someone who attempted to keep one. He provided a 8'L x 6'W x 5'H enclosur for two swifts (male and female).

He included shrubs and all, and being an outside enclosure (lives in Fla) they did well. Sounds ridiculously enormous for a lizard that grows to only 6 inches, but it was great for them.
Ubnfortunately, at night an animal damaged the enclosure, and so either they escaped or were consumed. He kept them for 2 years without problems.

It's a shame that they are such delicate animals, because they are truly beautiful.

Have u checked out the Rainbow racerunner? cnemidophorus lemniscatus ? Very beautiful animal!

Hope this helped a bit.
