They are considered humane.
Most people that use them are hunters. They are very effective for long distance work, but I would once again if i used one zap myself with it. Many people do NOT like them tho...
I feel that if i am doing something to my animal I first need to experience it. But then again I am a bit odd.

:Being the animal lover you are, I couldn't imagine you using anything that was cruel so I'll take your word for it! A guy at work has a zapper thing on his dog's collar to give him a shock. Are these considered humane?
