Brazilian herper in trouble!Help!

A friend of mine that uses to post messages in the Brazilian site " Iguana Planet" said his beautiful female iguana (around 3 years old) lost part of her tail without any visible reason. According to him thats the second time that happens with her.For the second time when he went to her terrarium he noticed a tiny part of her tail was missing and the stump was bleeding.
He asked me if this is " normal".In my point of view its not normal at all!!What do you think??
