Honestly! This is one of the saddest things I've ever seen! Bill Johnson, I'm sorry that you are so angry with so many of the members of this forum who are doing what they think is best by telling you what they think. That IS an iguana. It's NOT a mean animal by nature. It HAS been abused (the McDonald's diet is part of this abuse). PLEASE listen to the people on this forum who have had great success with their animals (some of them are upwards of 8 or 10 years old).

If you are unwilling to do this, then please just call the local animal shelter and find out if they accept reptiles. If you don't want to, I will be happy to make the call on your behalf if you tell me what county you live in.

With regard to the dog food diet, think about this--iguanas have been around a lot longer than domesticated dogs. What do you think they ate before your local Petcetera/Petco approached? Take a serious look at their hands, feet and teeth. Do they look like they could bring down another living animal, probably a mammal (dog food is largely mammalian) with those spindly little fingers and tiny teeth? I know they look threatening to you, and they probably are, but they probably wouldn't put a dent in a small rodent.

I understand that a few people have been rather standoffish towards you, possibly myself included. I also feel that you have been a little headstrong. If you come to a forum filled with people who are dedicated to the care and husbandry of iguanas in search of advice, and then refuse to take any of that advice, then I think that both you and the forum are better off without each other. However, if you geniunely do want help with your little green roommate, I and others on this forum are more than happy to assist you in any way we can.

I'm going to reccommed a website for you: http://www.anapsid.org/ I'm not saying anything on this website is the word of god, but I think if you check it out, you might see that some of it makes sense. The woman who runs this site had a similar experience to yours, and she weighs the pros and cons of dog food vs. a vegetarian diet.

This conflict has gone on long enough! Let's either communicate like rational people on both sides, or go our separate ways. Best of luck,
-Lily and Phil

P.S. I have read over this post a few times and don't find anything particularly aggressive in it anywhere. If you respond with claims that I have insulted you or diserespected you in any way, I hate to do it, but I will report you for forum violation. We try to keep this a civil place for all people to ask questions and learn about their igs together.
