Look I am inclined to believe your story due to the severally poor condition of this animal in the pictures. Please call ASPCA today and have them pick him up. He looks absolutely terrible. He does have metabolic bone disease because his poor spine is deformed. He needs help right away or even to be put down due to the misery he must be feeling.
He is lashing out at you when you open the door because he is frightened by you with the broom and the light shinning in his eyes. At the minimum if you don't call ASPCA get him a UV light and give him some light and feed him ONLY vegetarian. Believe me they don't eat meat or fried foods of any kind. Petstores are notorious for giving out bad information. Do some research online and you will see that we are telling you the truth.
PLEASE PLEASE call ASPCA to have him picked up. This poor thing has suffered enough.
