Please please please do not dump it in the back of McDonalds. The 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' philosophy is all wrong (no offense to you, but it is). You see... it IS 'broke'. The whole thing is all wrong... the diet, the housing, everything. If you aren't willing to go out of your way to care for the iguana, then atleast get out the yellowpages, find the local animal shelter or SPCA, and give the iguana to them. They'll even come and pick it up for you. It is a much better fate than letting it wither away in the closet or letting a criminal who is obviously unfit to care for it properly take it again.
