::Ok, if this is a real question and you are not trolling:

::It sure sounds like an iguana, from your description. I'm sure it's terrified, and appears "mean" to you because it sees no way to escape and is trying to defend itself - it only understands that you are a large animal who could kill or eat it. If it had been abused before, it does not know you are not planning to hurt it...

::Iguanas are not easy or cheap to care for - they require heat, proper lighting with special reptile bulbs to similate natural sunlight, and a diet of fresh leafy greens (collard, mustard, dandelion, endive, watercress, NO LETTUCE). If you are really interested in learning to care for the iguana properly, check out the Iguana articles at http://www.anapsid.org/iguana/index.html It's a good place to start learning about these demanding creatures.

::If you do not want to learn about, or are unable to afford the proper care of iguanas, please try to find a reptile rescue to take this poor animal. Right now it is dying a slow death in the closet - the place and diet couldn't be more wrong for an iguana. Please do not release it, igs are tropical animals. It will not be able to survive the winter, and will likely freeze to death. If you let us know which city/state you are in, someone will be able to name the rescues which are fairly close to you (I hope).

::Finaly, I don't know what the animal cruelty laws are in your state, but is there any way to bring charges against the previous owner? If he ever shows up, he should be held accountable for abandonment of this animal.
