In Reply to: found this green dragon animal is closet. what is it? posted by billjohnson on January 12, 2003 at 11:31:01:
That sounds like an iguana to me. They are vegetarians. They eat (or are supposed to eat) greens such as, mustard greens and collard green, they also eat veggies as a second food like, squash and sweet potatoes and peas. They love fruit, but shouldnt be feed that too often. Maybe if you approached him slowly and talking to him softly with a piece of bread watered down so he can taste it or a piece of fruit, that is if you want to try yourself to approach him.
They are cold blooded so they need warmth, behind McDonalds would not be a good place, and light is good.
Please keep checking this post, I am sure others will respond with a lot more info than I am giving. There are knowledgable people here that can help you.
It is sad that people leave their pets behind like this, it is good of you to take an interest and help.
:I moved into this place last week and the guy who lived there took off as he had a criminal warrant. Left lots of trash in the place. Living in the bedroom closet is the green looking dragon/ lizard thing. Building super says it's an "iguna" that's how I found this place at in intetrnet cafe as it is a very interesting animal/.
:It is green. has spikes on its back and a short thick tall with a blackish end about 4 inches long on it.
:Building super says guy who had it found it behind a dumpster behind mcdonalds. super says thing eats fries and mcdonalds burgers etc (lots of empty packages in clost with the thing)
:anyways.. super says guy talked on internet to people about this animal a couple of years ago so he said I should try asking for info if I wanted to keep the thing.
:hard to decide right now as it is a pretty mean tempered animal. seems to hate light and cringes/ closes eyes when i open closet door. best i can do is to throw more fries and burger in closet as it tries to flip it's tail towards me and once gnashed and clawed at me. I can hold it back with an end of broom I do this if I have to get at something in closet.
:anways.. if anyone kows more about this guy who ditched this thing let me know asz he should take it back or i dont know what I will do with it. Goodwill came and took all of the old furniture he left so really this is the only thing left to go.
:I could let it go back behind a mcdonalds again as it would then have plenty of food, but i dont know how well it would do in cold as it is bout 30 right now and it doesnt have fur.
:any ideas let me know.
:I am in the midwest
