I was wondering if the vet could have done any testing to be sure if it was a burn, myself.
I'm no expert by any means, but it doesn't seem obvious that it is a burn rather than some other skin ailment. I figured the vet had seen enough to know for sure though. I would definitely watch to see if it spreads or shows up in other areas.
