Actually the bigger herps are becoming popular as well as venomous. I can no longer remember the numbers, but there was a drug raid here ohhhh 3 years ago... Maybe two... There were gators, alli snapping turtles, snapping turtles,a few retics and burms, 4 iguanas (i remember that because thats what i picked up) a few monitors, some trantulas and scorpians, and a viper boa. Oh yeah and 4 pit bulls.... ;)
Drug dealers and ne'er do-wells are often intrigued with animals that create fear in people. Many people find great terror in reptiles. And the only stories we hear are usually the bad. You dont hear of the person who has rehabbed countless reptiles from bad situations out of money from their own pocket, you hear about the ones that were drug raids, severe abuse cases, or where someone got injured. It is truely unfortunate.

:Funny, I always imagined drug dealers with big dogs; the sort that (stereotypically) can be trained to be vicious. Like pitbulls or rottweilers. I don't want to piss off any pitbull or rottweiler owners, so I should mention that all the dogs of these breeds that I have known personally have been very nice, sweet, and well behaved dogs! :-)
: I even read one article that came right out and stated that reptiles especially larger constrictors and big iguanas were the favorite pets of drug dealers! Give me a break!
