Well Joey and I have an appointment with the vet tomorrow morning.
Thank you everyone who responded with suggestions, information and ideas. Sometimes it helps when you go to a vet if you have some thoughts on what you think it could be...there is no such thing as too much information...*smiles*.
Ringworm entered my mind as well; however, my cat has never had it. Joey has no hotrocks and his basking area has no exposed metal to get overheated and the discolouration seemed to appear so quickly.
I must admit that I did have him housed at an "ig-friendly" private pet store for 4 days while we were moving, and there were other iguanas boarding there, but he was in a separate cage. I got him home as soon as his whopper of a cage was rebuilt. When he came home, he did not have the tummy mark; it developed about a week or so later.
I looked at the site you suggested Xta (thank you by the way) and I think Joey might have a systemic infection (bacterial). Today I noticed that he has a small pea sized lump on his inner thigh (where it attaches to the body). It is dark in colour, but there is no discharge or blistery look at all; just a small darkened bump. His cage is kept extremely clean, I can't imagine how he got an infection, but we'll find out tomorrow.
Sheesh, it seems if it's not the cat it's the iguana who's off to the vet; I'm keeping my vet in business for sure...*grins*.
But they are my responsibility, I love them lots and lots, and I will do whatever needs to be done.
Wish us luck and I'll keep you all updated.
Thanks again everyone,
Kally & Joey
