If you do start seeing a large mound of what looks like fire ants, maybe you could call your city's pest control or fish and game. They could come and take a look. Also would be able to give you advise on what's legal to use on them for your area. They might even get rid of them for you. Here in Jerome, it doesn't have a pest control. To small, 8000 people and I think that they actually counted in the dairy cows. We are on our own.
