I second the use of a Dremel tool. Mine has a cord, but I have the snake attachment, so the part making all the noise is nowhere near my ig. He prefers it to the clippers (actually, he doesn't seem to even notice that I am doing anything), and its quick. You just have to be careful not to burn their toes!
:I use either a heavy-duty nail file or a cordless dremel tool with a sandpaper bit. For a big iguana, clippers don't work as well as I like, and the nails are still sharp and rough after cutting. Filing or sanding down the nails (just a tiny bit) leaves the tips rounded and smooth. Still, as Flavia said, a big iguana's sharp scales can still cut up your hands, especialy if the ig is nervous.
