I read the whole thread before posting. Chances are that your iguana with proper care can live around 20-25 years. With the poor care that it received at its previous owners I would take a few years off. If it had MBD I would also take a few years off. I currently have a 10-13 year old iguana. Her exact age is unknown but she was with her longest owner before us for 3 years. I do NOT expect her to live much longer than 15 or so. She was fed a diet very high in animal protien before she got to us. Dog food and Iceberg lettuce to be exact.
But to specifically answer you question literally, I would have to say the overall average lifespan of a captive iguana is exactly what XTA Said. 2 years. This is pretty much an estimate from stories of ages i get.
In the end it truely is a guessing game.
