I had the same problem with Tempest when I brought him home. I tried everything, from healthy greens through pelleted food, to cat food and dog food, to try and figure out what he had been fed just to get something into him. Long soaks in the tub were definately key, rehydration has to come first. I always leave water in the enclosure, both drinking water in a small dish, and a big tub for him to lie in if he wants to.
What I ended up doing, was feeding him well soaked iguana pellets through a syringe for a couple of days. He was still refusing to eat, and hadn't eaten a thing for almost 3 weeks, but when the mush hit his mouth he ate like there was no tomorrow. After that, he did start to pick away at the dry pellets, then at the salad and veggies. Now he eats most days, but is still very picky. I would also cut long strips of veggies, and when he opened his mouth to hiss and bite, stick a piece in so he could bite it off, then he'd discover that that veggie was pretty good. I don't recommend that :P
If you do have to syringe feed your ig, of course no needle involved we all knew that right, don't do it more than once every couple of days. I aimed for roughly 15cc's of mush to get into him, usually ended up with only 10cc's in him, but it was enough to trigger his own appetite. After two feedings two days apart, he began to pick at things on his own, so I let him be. Good luck though!
:I got an iguana about two weeks ago. It will not eat and is very skinny. I tried the basic salad and collard greens but without success. What should I do? The temps are 100 basking and 85 room. It's enclosure is 6'tall, 4' wide' 3' deep. The iguana is 27 inches. Thanks to all who reply.
