Hi everyone
We acquired an iguana about 2 weeks ago and I need some help.
I have no info on the prior owner but I dont feel it was cared for very well.
Its cage is much too small for its size(working on getting a much larger one now).
It seems not to eat very much. In fact in 2 weeks I have only seen it eat its dried iguana food once. People have recommended all types of food and others do not recommend the same stuff.
I bought it romaine lettuce spinach and chicory and it wont eat any of it.
What does everyone recommend?
Also people recommend kingworms and crickets but then others
say its hard for the iguana to digest the crickets?
Also do most iguanas like swimming in the tub?
Someone told me that his loves it and then another person told
me his despises it LOL
2 more questions
Heat rock? Do or Don't
Iguana seems to like it others tell me its bad for him.
I have 3 cats Will the iguana and the 3 cats co exist peacefully if I let it roam the house while the cats are inside?
I have been letting the cats outside mostly when the iguana is out but with the cold weather they dont want to stay out long
and when they come in my iguana dont want back in the cage.
also I have only been using the heat lamp during the day and then turning it off when its sleep time.
the house is at 70 degrees
is that ok? or too cold?
Any helfpul hints would be appreciated.
Seemed it was hacking/coughing a few times last night
but my friend said iguanas dont cough
Maybe it breathed some dust from exploring every crevice of my house including under the sofa and behind a huge wall panel?
Thanks for any help
and will talk to you soon.
Peace
Mike aka Wolfie
