In Reply to: A Good question for all Ig owners...... posted by Heather on December 25, 2002 at 17:44:51:
most of you rescued your iguanas from bad or horrible situations. my story isn't so bad. I always had reptiles growing up - but never an iguana. I've always wanted one. I happened to mention it to a friend - turned out her husband's boss was looking for a good home for their iguana because of circumstances they couldn't give him the attention he needed. I read up on iguanas for months - I visited countless web sites, researched topics & bought Hatfield's book.
I was ready . Ginger came to me with his very nice homebuilt enclosure, his deluxe hot rock & reptibark. he was 3-1/2yrs old. a male 4' 7" STL. they had him since he was a hatchling. he had been fed properly. he acclimated to me & his new home very quickly. he'd obviously been well socialized.
I got rid of the reptibark & the hot rock, made some improvements to his habitat. fed him like a king iguana! I improved his life as he has improved mine. I never expected a big green lizard could have so much personality & be so much fun. he's the best iguana in the world!
:In the post below BlueIguana2003 asked a good question. Where'd everyone get their Igs? I got Smirnoff Through an adoption program called "Green Iguana Socity". They actually hooked me and His former owner up so I could adopt him from That family. How about you guys and gals??? :)
