In Reply to: Test the theory........... posted by cwatbay on December 24, 2002 at 20:34:13:

:You really need to get to the bottom of this miraculous discovery which could totally change the entire hair care industry.

:What you have here is an "anecdotal" event. I.E.: something happened that made it appear that something else happened. Sorta like: I ate a carrot today, then I got hit in the head with a meteor....Therefore, I quit eating carrots and so far, have avoided another interplanetary collision...the first being bad enough.

:What you really need to do is develop a hypothesis, which through rigorous testing, can be developed further into a theory.

:I suggest that with the enlistment of your friend (who shall be the test subject) and you (who shall be the "taker of notes" and "keen observer", you two go about duplicating the results that have so far been observed.

:I would have you friend first test her hair for "fullness and silkyness" before each experiment. Make a note of this. Get a set of calipers, tape measures, micrometers and other measuring devices to get a good measurement of the "fullness". Then have random people off the street, touch her hair until you have a consensus that has a majority agreeing on the level of "silkyness" (such as : very silky; moderately silky, sorta silkly, "feels like straw", and "steel wool").

:Then have your friend place an iguana on her head and wait for it to do "it's thing". Wash the hair, then measure the results and compare to your "pre-poop" readings and measurements.

:I would recommend doing this several times in order to get a good set of comparison study results.

:To truly test your theory, I would have your friend try out several different types of animals to further the comparisons - perhaps not all poop is created equal ?

:Try other reptiles, try birds (we all know about those pesky pigeons); try mammals - try different sizes of animals - perhaps big poop is better than little poop. If there is a zoo nearby, see if you can get some exotic stuff like: monkey poop, hippo poop, elephant poop, giraffe poop, tiger poop, lion poop, warthog poop (uggh, maybe forget that one). Is there an aquarian or sea park nearby ? Try some: whale poop, seal poop, dolphin poop (see if's its different from porpoise poop), flounder poop, eel poop, octopus poop.......

:As you can see there is more kinds of poop than Bubba said there were kinds of shimp in the movie Forest Gump.

:I wouldn't discount what you and your friend discovered, this could be (like Ed McMahon with a Big Check and Balloons)opportunity knocking at your door.

:Good luck and PLEASE stay downwind......

:CW
