actually it's a very good questions, since some folks find it cool and or cute when they do that. A fake X-mas tree wouldn't be too dangerous, but once the ornaments are up, there are problems.

Iguanas really are the worst interior decorators, that is, they will knock all ornaments down, ruining the tree. Next problem is electrical. Yanking, getting tangled, or trying to eat a light will make the ig and surrounding zap!

Tehy may be tempted to eat pine needles, very dangerous cuz they can puncture the stomach or intestine, or impact them. In addition, they may be toxic.
Fake X-Mas trees may still be chewed on.

I once came up with this topic years ago, and it turned out to be no good. Also, those trees do not have the strongest branches, so the animal could get into serious trouble.

Get him a ficus benjamin, make it happy.
