: I'm a little worried about summer time....My igs have never been outside, and I really wouldn't want to lose them! I've been thinking about building a Screen/2x4 enclosure, but I don't know if I'll be able to do it!!! I was wondering about leashes, in the meantime. I've heard that they can damage thier spikes, and would just like some input from you guys, my trusted informers! If leashes are a bad idea, (for the spike reason) what about altering them by putting a bit of mesh on the top of the leash to let the spikes slide through? Any ideas????

I've heard of leashes sold in pet stores that black leather and go under the iguana, instead of on top. My iglet is about seven months old and already used to several types of leashes. I still haven't taken him outside though, because he HATES birds and my backyard has birds of all shapes and sizes running amok!
Also, when you use the leash on your iguana, NEVER leave it unsupervised and NEVER tie the leash to anything and never, ever, EVER do both of those at the same time!
