Yeah, this kinda things do happen, but people didn't really jump at your throat. There is another lizard forum here where they are known to do that! lol

Look at it this way. Years ago I had to give my Soni away to a friend of mine who lives down in Fla. He is a beautiful male, and it ticked me off to give him away, but it was best.

Anyways, that friend of mine had a female, and the two have been shaggin (just watched Austin Powers, sorry) every year, and every year she produces eggs, and every year they end up as lunch for his monitor as soon as they hatch. Talking about the circle of life!

So the reason, like Mrd D mentioned, why people gave you a growl is due to your intention of trying to make them hatch.
Just the dump the dam eggs or sell them to an exotic south american restaurant for a special dish.

Your reptile freaks in school can easily purchase one for $10, even though since they know you they have a better chance of getting a healthy baby.

Tell you what. Keep a couple of them for those you are sure who know how to care for an iguana. The rest are best be destroyed.

I sympathize with you, since whenever wild animals breed in captivity it usually means the captive conditions are good, and there is the excitement of seeing a baby ig come out of the egg. It gives any herper a feeling of pride and achievement.

But the sad side is there are just too many of them here in the states, and even though your heart might be in the right place, it is best to avoid making them hatch.

And do grab a good book on igs, it always comes in handy.
Congratulations for the eggs and the so far successful husbandry of your iguanas, but try to avoid making them hatch, at least most of them.

As for your questions not always been answered, hey, s**t happens to any of us. I've been to forums where ot once i got a single reply. It depends who's on, or of the question could be simply be looked up on a reputable website or book.

Good luck with your iguanas, tell us how it goes.

- IJ
