:i am going to help out with reptile rescue in my area, so i thought i would brush up on caresheets, and exact temps and what not. knowing that i will recieve iguanas, i went to the green iguana caresheet from the caresheet link of kingsnake.com. what i found is conflicting information.
:all this time i have thought that hatchling and juvinille iguana need some protien in the diet. even the specialty can iguana diets have protien in them. i thought they need protien to grow. even articles in reptile magazine i have read have stated that protien is needed in the diet of the baby iguana. however, the caresheet here says they never require protien at all, that they are strictly hebivourous from the time they hatch. which is true? i am truly comfused...
:thanx

Protein can be from plant sources such as Alfalfa and small amounts of tofu. NO animal protein should be given to Giant Green Iguanas at any time in their lives. It causes kidney damage. Check out the site www.anaspid.org for more GGI info.
