This is the first iguana that we discussed when you came up from rockford... SVL was about 5 inches if that. Yes it did have to be put down.
The humane society's foster was feeding cal-sand with baby food beef stew for like 3 weeks. it had NO lower jaw...
I also just picked up another last week from manitowoc. This one also had to be put down. The saddest part is the owner had put TONS of money into vets who dianosed it with everything from too much calcium to a fractured jaw. I still havent decided how exactly I am going to handle getting good info to the vets. I cnat rightly go off in a letter and tell them what i think. That iguana was 3 inches SVL. Prolly the smallest ig I have ever seen and one of the most messed up ones I have seen as well...
I did feel bad for the owner. He tried REALLY REALLY hard to do things right and i have a feeling that the info that not only the place he bought the reptile from but also the pet stores and vet clinics made the situation worse. He basically started doing things right and just spiraled downward from there due to bad info given to him by vets and pet stores.

:Thanks Cindy,
:I was just thinking about this. How did that Ig from Manitowac
:turn out? You had said that it was probably bad enough that
:euthanasia was necessary according to the animal shelter that
:had it.
:Oh yeah, and thanks for the tip about Dane County. Beanie had
:been there 3 months or so and according to Liz, was not doing
:well. We went the following weekend and visited and put in
:the adoption application. I am soooo happy with her! After
:meeting Oscar I was hooked. (as you probably know) :) She is
:doing wonderful and we both thank you for hooking us up.

:::My Reptile room never drops below 80 degrees in the winter. Average on the iguana side of the room is more like 83.
