One major problem is that you may get there and there will be absolutely no one that knows anything about igs - the majority of pet store employees don't. Which means that you may actually be making your ig's condition worse by bringing it to a pet store to be examined.
A second major problem is that there most likely will not be a qualified herp veterinarian on hand when you get there - which may also make your ig's condition worse.
A third problem is that anyone OTHER THAN a veterinarian that may be in the store by law CANNOT do anything but give you some general suggestions as to what to do for your ig. They cannot prescribe any possible medications, i.e. antibiotics if needed, they cannot legally perform any possible amputation that may or may not need to happen.
Give me a few minutes and I'm sure I can come up with a few more reasons..... In the mean time, click on the link below and see if there are any vets near you. If you're willing to drive 3 hours to a pet store you SHOULD be able to find a vet.
Ooops - one more reason - if you choose to take the ig to a pet store for treatment instead of a qualified herp vet then I would guess that the odds of the ig surviving are roughly 20% at best - any Vegas odds makers monitoring the board?
