I did not know about the pine, mine cage is being built with mahogany but there is pine around the edges. I also used pine for the shelves in there. Could I cover the shelves, cloth? Or should I just take them out and replace? I believe the edging will be ok since it is only used to have the mahogany come together. Thanks for your link will check it out.

:No wood made to be used outdoors (such wood is treated with a variety of toxic chemicals you don't want in your home). And, because it is so closely related to cedar (and redwood), pine.
