to start, mother nature has not built in your brain the ability to love like mammals.
Second, you are th sole iguana in a safe (hopefully proper) enviroment.
You are given all the proper veggies you need and want, and have virtually no enemies and fears, with the exception of going to the vet.
Living i LARGE ample space, with free-roaming, adds up to happy healthy life for a captive iguana. No tics, no parasites, no enemies, no contestors, life is good.
Adding another means (to them) introducing a competitor and an intruder.
There are some exceptions in the reptilian world (like corucia zebrata), but the norm among reptiles is live alone, live happy.
