:I had the same problem. If you buy the pet store variety It should fit but I get mine from a commercial distributer and it was too long so I cut 2 2x4's to the approprate size and screwed the light to the edges of them(about 8 inch pieces) and it gave me just barely enough clearence-just make sure you mount them as far from the bulb as possible and use 2 screws to prevent pivioting.
