I have noticed that a LOT of exersice helps! Daily walk or chase around the house *L* It can help avoid problems with laying the eggs. This works in many reptiles, snakes as well have better chances of not becoming egg bound if they have had some good exercise during the pregnancy.
Good luck! I know how you feel. Roxy is I think 7 now, and lays about 50 eggs per year! :) (one year it was like 65, last year 40 something and year before 52)
