I thought you may be interested in the results I had treating my iguana, Sleestack with Parazap.

I took a fresh fecal sample to the vet 2 weeks ago...he had Giardia and Trichmonads. I treated with Parazap tea for 2 weeks and took a fresh sample in today. He no longer had Giardia but he still had Trichmonads and now he also has Balantidium! I realize parazap may only work for pinworms or similar. It certainly is not effective for everything judging from these results.

My iguana has had no contact with his feces or any other animal's feces in this time (he is potty trained..and he gets a shower afterwards). The only explanation for these organisms seems to be that they exist naturally in his gut or he is getting them from his veggies. I wish we had more knowledge of the reptile gut bacteria. Vets always say the same thing....these could be part of his natural bacteria, but if the numbers are too high, we get concerned. They always leave it as ambiguous...you can treat it if you want, but you don't have to. That drives me crazy! I do know my vet is good though so...whaddyagonna do?

I may treat him with drugs now.
